Day One: We picked up the key and made a list

Debbie and I picked up the key and visited the space today. We made a list of stuff to do, some of which will be on the build out list, some that is more immediate.

We introduced ourselves to Jon, the owner of the Filling Station Cafe and had lunch there. And we met Jason, owner of a gallery on S. Alamo. We talked about the neighborhood and First Friday. Everyone is pretty friendly and excited we’re moving in. I offered the space for meetings of the Southtown Merchant’s Association. We’ll join and I will attend. We’ll do some neighborhood walking next week and introduce ourselves to the neighbors.

We turned the refrigerator and ice maker on; yes, we have a dedicated icemaker; to see if/how they work. We also turned on the heat and AC to see how they worked. We’ll have someone out to inspect them this week.

Time-Warner is coming our tomorrow afternoon to hook up Internet.

I’d like to have some people into the space as a sort of guerrilla open house on Thursday this week. So I’ll be doing some of the cleaning chores.
